AkademikerPension joins the AIP platform
AkademikerPension, one of the largest pension funds in Denmark, will join the AIP platform by committing a total of DKK 2.5 billion to AIP Infrastructure II, AIP’s latest fund focusing on energy transition investments in Europe and North America.
With AkademikerPension onboard, the fund is set to reach DKK 30 billion in total commitments to be invested into renewable energy and infrastructure assets over the coming 3 years. Investors in the fund include Danish pension funds PKA and PenSam, Norwegian financial group Storebrand as well as a group of Swiss institutional investors.
“This is exactly the kind of collaboration we look for. We expect a good return, and by joining forces with accomplished partners, we reduce costs while investing in a responsible and climate-friendly manner. Our motto that returns and responsibility must go hand in hand is therefore in perfect harmony in this collaboration”, says CEO of AkademikerPension, Jens Munch Holst.
The initial investment of DKK 2.5 billion is just the beginning for AkademikerPension as Jens Munch Holst expects total commitments to reach DKK 10 billion by 2030.
For AIP Management, the partnership with AkademikerPension holds great prospects and is a testimony to the platform’s performance over many years.
“We are pleased to welcome another strong Danish investor to the AIP family. AkademikerPension’s significant commitment to our latest fund is a vote of confidence in the AIP team and the focused strategy that we have executed on for the past 9 years. With AkademikerPension on board, our latest fund is close to full capacity, and we are ready to invest in additional assets to the benefit of our investors and the energy transition” says Kasper Hansen, Managing Partner at AIP.
AIP Infrastructure II has seen strong demand from investors in the market. Joining the closing of the fund are also Swiss investors Centre Patronal, and Caisse de Prevoyance de L’etat de Fribourg. With these investors onboard, the fund is set to reach DKK 30 billion in total commitments.
