Lærernes Pension invests in AIP Infrastructure II
Lærernes Pension – the Danish pension plan for teachers in Denmark – has acquired a DKK 1 billion stake from PKA in AIP Infrastructure II, AIP’s latest fund focused on energy transition investments in Europe and North America.
Following the entry of Lærernes Pension, coinciding with final close of the fund, the investors include PKA, PenSam, Storebrand Asset Management, AkademikerPension, and Lærernes Pension, as well as a group of Swiss institutional investors.
“We very much like this type of investment which creates a good platform for our sustainable infrastructure portfolio. These are investments where we get the opportunity to combine good, expected returns with responsible and climate-friendly investing. It supports our aim to build a more sustainable portfolio.”, says Karsten Kjeldsen, CEO of Lærernes Pension
To AIP, the entry of Lærernes Pension holds great prospects for the future development of the platform.
“We are pleased to welcome Lærernes Pension as an investor in AIP Infrastructure II. The AIP platform was created with an aim of having multiple institutional investors onboard sharing the benefits and costs of investing directly into energy and infrastructure assets. We are proud to see this vision unfolding and look forward to a good, long-term partnership with likeminded investors” says Kasper Hansen, Managing Partner at AIP.
Admitting Lærernes Pension into the AIP investor group is also very much appreciated by PKA, the founding investor of AIP.
“We have a very close cooperation with Lærernes Pension in several areas. It therefore makes sense to see them join AIP as an investor. The investors in AIP now include a number of pension funds and asset managers from Denmark and abroad with the same view on the necessity to invest in green infrastructure. This puts AIP in a good position to find the best possible investments to the benefit of our members’ return as well as the climate.” says Jon Johnsen, CEO of PKA.
