AIP provides merchant financing to a portfolio of four onshore wind projects in Spain
AIP Management, on behalf of AIP Infrastructure II, is pleased to announce a EUR 136m financing for a portfolio of four onshore wind farms, adding 139.2 MW, located in Spain, with long term debt instrument designed for fully merchant and compatible with other revenue schemes.
“After our recent office opening in Madrid, we are very pleased to be making this first investment in the Spanish market in partnership with a highly reputable and experienced partner like Enerfin. We are very excited for the future as Spain is an attractive market where we have a strategic focus for deploying capital for renewable energy projects through our flexible financing instrument.” says Kasper Hansen, Managing Partner of AIP.
Enerfin, the renewable power subsidiary of Elecnor Group, is the project developer, 100% equity owner and project manager during both construction and operations. The project is at a construction-ready stage with a tier-1 turbine supplier who are also providing a long-term O&M agreement. The wind farm will have a total expected production of c. 431 GWh per year which will produce enough electricity to supply the equivalent of around 100,000 Danish households and will offset the equivalent of 32,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide during each year of operation. Construction is expected to start in June 2022 with the project expected to reach commercial operation in October 2023.
